Mutual Savings Credit Union was chartered in 1936. The credit union was originally organized to serve the employees of U.S. Steel’s Fairfield Works in northwest Birmingham, Alabama.
At first, even Mutual Savings employees could not be members of the credit union. Membership was reserved for U.S. Steel Workers only. In the mid-1980’s, Mutual Savings began to include and serve other SEG groups in addition to U.S. Steel’s Fairfield Works.
Today, Mutual Savings proudly serves 13 counties in Alabama as well as numerous employer groups. We are a financial organization large enough to serve all of your financial needs, yet small enough to know what they are.
